This short story is based off my western book series before the series started. Its 1859 and Allen Johnson is a town deputy in the Kansas Territory and he heads out to track down a anti-slavery troublemaker and it turns into a night of horror on Halloween.
The story takes place in a Californian community known as Poker Flat, near the town of La Porte. Poker Flat is, in the opinions of many, on a downward slope. The town has lost thousands of dollars, and has experienced a moral decline. In an effort to save what is left of the town and reestablish it as a "virtuous" place, a secret society is created to decide whom to exile and whom to kill. On November 23rd of 1850, four "immoral" individuals are exiled from Poker Flat. The first of them is a professional poker player, John Oakhurst. He is among those sent away because of his great success in winning from those on the secret committee. On his way out of town, he is joined by The Duchess, a saloon girl; Mother Shipton, a madam; and Uncle Billy, the town drunk and a suspected robber. These four set out for a camp which is a day's journey away, over a mountain range. Once halfway there, all exiles other than Oakhurst decide to stop at noon for a rest, against Oakhurst's wishes....
This is a beautiful story — essential reading for anyone who loves animals and knows how much they can teach us about being human
A western story about family love, action, sadness, and forgiveness.
Part One of a seven part series taking place in a world of my creation called Silicone Reverie Reil is a member of gang attempting to survive by any means in the former Texas heartland. However, something has changed. Reil has learned some truths and lives are changed forever. Can someone receive forgiveness in the end?
The story describes the chapter scene as the background of her life story and how powerful she is to herself and others around her she is a very brave and hardworking little girl who never gives up doubt upon herself or from people she meets in her lifetime. The little girl is the main character of the story and she could do anything she believes in if she continues to be helpful and responsibilities for her own life if she isn't, things can turn out pretty badly like if she is a bad troubled child, she couldn’t help the young man who doesn't have goals or dreams in life and doesn't believe it, so making the character just like that was the perfect combination for the story itself. The balance of helping her grandparents and playing with her friends was described in the story. Daisy wants Mabel to join the horse racing game but Mabel can't cause she is responsible and denies Daisy's offer to help her grandparents even though she did want to go but couldn't because she had to help them and she can learn skills on how to help others which is good character traits for a character like her that helps the young man to be the first cowboy winner in the town.
