The Sacrifice of Love

Evelyn didn't hesitate. She gathered her savings, sold her belongings, and left everything behind - her home, her dreams, and the life they had planned - to find him.

When she finally reached the hospital, Noah refused to see her.

"He won't come out of his room," the nurse said. "He doesn't want anyone to see him like this."

Determined, Evelyn marched into his room. The man before her was not the Noah she remembered. His once-strong frame was frail, his eyes dimmed with pain. He looked away, shame clouding his face.

"You shouldn't have come," he said, his voice hollow.

"I came because I love you," she replied softly.

"You deserve more, Evie. You should be with someone who can give you everything. I can't walk, I can't build that home we talked about, I can't - "

Evelyn knelt before him, taking his hands in hers. "Love isn't about what you can give. It's about who we are together."

For months, Evelyn stayed by his side. She worked tirelessly to care for him, taking odd jobs to support his medical bills, refusing to let him waste away in despair. She pushed him through painful therapy, encouraged him on the hardest days, and reminded him of the dreams they had once shared.

"One day," she whispered, "we'll stand under our oak tree again."

Noah fought. Not just for himself, but for her. Slowly, painfully, he regained some strength. With Evelyn's unwavering support, he learned to move again - first with a wheelchair, then with braces, then with a cane.
