I am finding it very hard to concentrate on the class Ms. Rachel is taking. I was so excited from the moment I saw those tiny little droplets fall from the sky, and I immersed myself under the droplets and moved away to a faraway world.

I am dressed as a king, and I see myself sitting on a throne and ordering my commanders to bring my chocolate shake with lots of sprinkles in it. I could feel my name being called out faintly, which irritates me because, who can call a king by his name? It turns out Ms. Rachel was calling my name as I had gone back to my imagination during the class, as I always do.

I am Aaron. I am studying in 2nd grade at Wonton public school. My friends call me a dreamer as I often lose myself in my imagination. I am not sure when it started, but I do know that I enjoy being in my imagination. I get to be a king most often, and other times I am a mouse! How can I be a king one day and a mouse on another? But it's cool if you think about it. Even when I am a mouse, I have this huge army of mice following me and my orders. Sometimes, I wonder how I am drawn to these imaginary worlds, and I am guessing it is probably because of all the stories my mother read to me when I was a kid.

It rained again today, and I am hip hopping down the road, enjoying the splashing water on the sides. I am waiting for my bus to pick me up and my mom keeps telling me to not skip around and dirty my clothes. I try to stand still next to her
while she is talking to one of her friends from the mom’s group. I tried to hip hop again and suddenly I felt something peeping out of the bushes.

I noticed a set of tiny red eyes peeking out at me from the bushes, and from that point forward, wherever I went, I saw those eyes following me. I see them appearing under my furniture, in the dark corners. These teeny tiny red eyes piqued my interest, and I needed to confront them. But what if it is a ghost who is following me? Wait a minute, why would a ghost follow me and not scare me? This is something different, and I must find out.

Although I am scared as hell, I have decided to confront the red eyes today. I finished my class and went running to the school yard, where there are a lot of bushes, and I often find them there peeking at me during my play time. I looked around and made sure no one was there, and I gathered all the courage in the world. I kept telling myself that I was king and mouse ruler, and that I should not be afraid.

I walked slowly close to the bush and called out, "Who are you? I know you follow me, and I am not scared of you. "Come out and show me who you are." I suddenly heard a squeaky noise, and it grew louder. I called out again and I saw the shadow of a tiny figure appearing. I braced myself and prepared to run just in case, as that was my escape plan. I see a tiny white mouse wearing a tunic reluctantly appearing in front of me and his friends standing behind him.

He bowed in front of me and said something in a
language I could not understand, and his army of friends bowed too. My lord Alim, I am happy to finally meet you and I have come to take you home. he toots on a strange looking trumpet, and I am suddenly transformed into a mouse. I look exactly like the mouse king I used to imagine, and I am suddenly in a strange looking place with hundreds of mice standing beneath me.

Who are you all and why are you calling me Lord Alim? My name is Aaron, and I am a human and not a mouse king. I'd like to get home in time for dinner, where my mother will be waiting.

My lord, please do not fear. We are your people, and this is your kingdom. You are Lord Alim, son of Lord Akin. Your father named you our ruler before he disappeared into the mountains with your mother. He was a great king and a great father to you. Now you must fulfil your destiny as the ruler of this mouse kingdom.

I am 6 years old, and I am not a king. My father and mother are right now in my house waiting for me to come back home from school. Let me go. I am not your mouse king and I do not know what it is that I need to fulfil. You transformed me into a mouse with your trumpet. Now blow that again so that I can go back to being Aaron.

I am afraid I can't help you, my lord. It is with a heavy heart that I order my chief of command to keep you in prison until you agree to lead us and this kingdom. Chief! Please take Lord Alim to the underground prison and make sure he is safely guarded.

No! No!.. you cannot
do this, I have to go home… please….

You are mistaken, I am not Alim…

I am not a mouse king..

NO……………..Leave me alone………..

Honey….

Sweetheart…. Are you ok?

Aaron….

Wake up honey…

I slowly open my eyes. I am lying on a bed and my mom is sitting on my side, looking into my eyes. She is looking so worried, and my father is standing by her side. I look around and I see a doctor and a few nurses standing and watching me.

I jump of the bed and hug my mom so tight that I never want to let her go. My mom tries to calm me and said that I passed out while playing on the ground and that I am all ok now.

My dad thanks the doctor and he come to hug me and my mom together. I could see my dad is smiling now and praying quietly.

The next day.

I am ready to go home. I see my mom packing up my things while my dad is working on the insurance formalities at the counter. Just before we left the hospital, my mom gave me something and said that I had it on me when I passed out.

I unrolled the paper and there it was a strange looking trumpet!!!
