Born in a small town in Rajasthan, life began with simplicity and comfort. When the family moved to Mumbai, the city became home - a place filled with opportunities and challenges. Childhood was spent in ease, thanks to a well-off father who ensured there were no struggles.

At 17, marriage came early, bringing with it a new set of responsibilities. The bride came from a wealthier family, and her demeanor often reflected it. She frequently belittled her in-laws and relatives, creating tensions that were hard to ignore. Yet, the choice was made to endure, for the sake of peace and stability.

As the years passed, three children were born - two daughters and a son. They became the sole focus of life. Every effort was made to give them the best - education, comfort, and a secure home. Even in the hardest times, not a word was spoken about the struggles; they were shielded from it all.

The eldest daughter's wedding was a grand affair, no expense spared. But soon after, problems arose in her marriage. She began to complain about her in-laws, particularly her mother-in-law's strict nature. Despite attempts to mediate, her mother intervened fiercely, filing complaints and sending legal notices. This escalated matters, and eventually, a divorce followed.

Now, the daughter and her young son live at home, their needs becoming an added responsibility. Meanwhile, the son graduated as an architect and started working, and the youngest daughter completed her studies and began her career.

One evening, the suggestion was made for the children to contribute a little to the household expenses. After all, they were now earning and capable. But the idea was met with resistance. The wife, ever outspoken, declared that it was a father's duty to bear all expenses and that the children shouldn't have to contribute a single penny.
Rather than argue, the matter was quietly dropped.

The years have been marked by an ongoing undercurrent of tension. The wife's sharp words often target the extended family, blaming them for past troubles, especially the eldest daughter's divorce. Silence became the shield against further conflict.

Recently, a small household disagreement spiraled into a heated argument. Voices were raised, accusations thrown. The wife threatened to take matters to the police, bringing up an incident from decades ago when some of her gold was taken during tough times. It's true the gold was never returned, but far more was given to her later, as circumstances improved. Still, the past was weaponized, and the words cut deep.

Sitting alone in the quiet of the night, the weight of it all felt heavier than ever. Life has been a series of sacrifices, each one made for the family, for the children, and for the hope of peace. The question now lingers - how long can one carry the burden of silence?

For now, the decision is to carry on, as always. Not for recognition or gratitude, but because that's what has been done all along. Silent sacrifices, after all, are often the only way to hold a family together.
