Reyna

I wake up to my body feeling sore, confusion clouds my head as I I open my eyes taking in my surroundings, the surface I was on felt rough and cold, my knees were digging into it as I was kneeling.

My hands were chained separately above my head with the chains secured at the wall.My shoulders were beginning to hurt from being overstretched, I look around the place I was, seeing objects I couldn't recognise. I tried to recall how I got here when the door clicked.

I wake up to a sharp pain up my arm, I sit up to see what I was dealing with, the scar that just appeared on my arm wasn't that serious, sighing, I began to trace it making me wonder what is it this time, it makes me wonder what kind of shit my supposed soulmate goes through.

My name is Reyna, heir to the throne of Azarthis, yet, here I am, captive in my own room.

It's been a long time since the day of the attack, when my parents were dethroned and taken away from me.

My mother always told me I had my father's eyes, but that's not true, my father's eyes were vibrant and filled with life. I still remember her captivating smile, enough to make your heart warm up.

As I was thinking, I sensed Kara's presence, the door opened and he came in with a wicked smile on his face, he opened the book in his arms and started reading the spell, this won't be good, I thought to myself, soon enough, I felt it, my body felt really hot like I was being burnt, I saw his eyes glimmer as he spoke up, 'it works, this is perfect, my formula works, at this rate everything will work out.'

It spread throughout my body pretty fast, my breathing got caught in my throat and I found myself gasping, I felt myself struggling to stay conscious before giving in.

I woke up with a dull pain in my chest, memories flooding back. It's really annoying falling unconscious all the time. Hastily, I raised my fray to see if my mark was still there, it was, I don't even know if I should celebrate or not. You see, I am a fishfolk, a very supreme race. Unlike all other creatures, we don't get to choose our life partners. They are chosen for us through a process, we call it 'siyara'.

When we are born, a mark is engraved into our skin, no two marks are the same except for those destined to be "SOULMATES".Through the mark, the destined feel each other's presence, emotions and pain. Remember that scar on my arm? every cut, bruise, scar, anything that appears on one, will appear on the other, though it fades after a while. Which is how I got that scar on my arm,

my "SOULMATE" got himself in a rough situation again. That word being distateful on my tongue, he is the reason I'm in this situation after all. When I find him, I'm going to kill him, I smile a little as the thought hits me.

I'll never get used to that numb feeling that envelopes me whenever I feel something from "HIM". I don't know much about him except he gets hurt a lot and angry too.

How I got in this situation is still a mystery to me, all I know is that my parents betrayed an agreement with the Chayons.

The Chayons are the royal family of the mermaids, they rule over Riza under my parents authority before they and everything connected to them was forsaken.

I still wonder what heinous crime they committed to have this enormous consequence thrown at them. Who knew they were bold enough to exert revenge.

The day of the attack plays in my mind like its just happening, I was at the reef when I felt someone's presence. I ran away to get a break from the castle, little did I know it'll be the last time I could call it home, I remember feeling a chill run up my spine as I felt large hands cover my mouth,

' don't move, if you want to see your parents again you'd come with me'

the voice spoke up,

startled, I nodded, I was only fifteen and clueless, as I turned around, his face came into view,

' what do you mean if I want to see my parents ' I inquired, stepping away from him a bit,

before me was a sight I never thought I'd ever see, a merman, he let out a chuckle before I felt something behind me, just as I turned around, I was met with another face, the dart he shot at me already making contact with my skin,

I hastily pull it out but it was too late, my limbs gave up as I started to sink to the ground, his arms wrapped around me as his accomplice proceeds towards us,

I could only watch as he placed me at the back of the hydra, having been paralysed by whatever was shot at me, we speed off in the direction of the castle, I couldn't help the dreadful feeling settling at the pit of my stomach,

I was fearful, scared for my life and my parents, I know my parents are really powerful, no-one would dare to attack them, it's like a shrimp fighting a shark, it didn't take long for me to put the two together.

These two definitely knew what they were doing, whatever they plan to do with my parents, they could easily get it done with me as their hostage.

I know how much my parents love me, they'd do anything to keep me safe, I feel a huge wave of nausea hit me as I begin to whimper fearing the worst, the merman who spoke to me must have heard as he turned to look at me,

' this was easier than I thought, to think that you'd be foolish enough to leave the comfort of your home without anyone to protect you, how smart, he scoffed, and I thought kidnapping you would be the hardest part', he added.

My hand shot up to cover my mouth as I let out a gasp, wasn't I paralysed a second ago, is it suppose to wear off this soon? I asked myself,

I immediately put my hand back so they won't realise. I can move now but how do I get out of this? I still haven't mastered my powers, I find it difficult to control it. He turns to watch me again as he sees me in thought,

'you can't escape right now princess, don't even think about it' he uttered,

was I that obvious? So many thoughts were running through my mind as I realise how I'm running out of time, the castle is now in my sight as I let out a shaky breath realising I indeed can't escape,

but my mind refuses to accept the fact that I'm about to cause a huge problem for my parents, I look between them analysing my racing thoughts, if I can take out the driver, we'll crash and hopefully I don't die, or get too injured to move,

with that thought in mind I reach for my scythe which I'm always with, carefully, I wrap my fingers around it pulling it out, without much thought, I swing my arm as hard as I could striking his face with so much force I didn't even dare to look at what I must've caused,

the startling scream that left his mouth was enough to indicate the damage I must've caused, I braced myself as I felt the hydra go down at at an alarming speed,

I could hear the other man beside him muttering profanities as he tried to get out of his seat buckle to gain control, blood was gushing from his accomplice's face as he yelped in pain,

I pushed myself deeper against the wall of the vehicle fearing for my life as I heard a loud thud, surprisingly, we landed not too bad.

Without thinking, I hurled myself out and began to swim as fast as I could away from them, I couldn't even look back as adrenaline coursed through my blood, I felt that I could escape as I rushed past the plants.

My moment was short lived as I heard the familiar sound, I turn around to see the man launch at me from the hydra causing him to speed unbelievably faster towards me,

I let out a small scream as I tried to get away but I wasn't fast enough, he caught unto my tail and pulled me towards him.

I felt myself slam into him as he held me tight, he covered my mouth with his hand as I struggled to break free of his hold, having lost my scythe earlier, I couldn't protect myself this time,

to my horror, his accomplice appeared in front of me, light red blood still oozing out of his face despite wrapping it with a cloth,

I could now see what I'd inflicted on him, the cut extended through his right eye most likely blinding him for life, reaching through his nose to his left cheek, he was seething with anger as he watched me, I was sure he was going to kill me, I'm sure the man behind me felt it too as he spoke up

' she stays alive, we lose if she is dead',

' can you bring this back', his accomplice yells pointing to his face as he winces in pain, speaking obviously causing it to hurt more, I struggled to break free of his hold but he wouldn't budge,

'Leo can heal you, be patient', he says to him.

Before I could further process things, he reached to me and clamped my hands in chains, I was shocked as the cold metal came in contact with my skin.
