THE MEANING OF DINOSAURS

A fossil reptile of the Mesozoic era, in many species reaching an enormous size. Dinosaurs are archosaurs, a larger group of reptiles that first appeared about 251 million years ago, near the start of the Triassic Period.  The prehistoric reptiles known as dinosaurs arose during the Middle to Late Triassic Period of the Mesozoic Era.

 WHAT ARE DINOSAURS

Dinosaurs are a class of extinct reptiles and modern birds of the clade Dinosauria. They first appeared during the Triassic period, between 243 and 233.23 million years ago, although the exact origin and timing of the evolution of dinosaurs is the subject of active research. They became the dominant terrestrial vertebrates after the Triassic Jurassic extinction event 201.3 million years ago; their dominance continued throughout the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. The fossil record demonstrates that birds are modern feathered dinosaurs, having evolved from earlier theropods during the Late Jurassic epoch. As such, birds were the only dinosaur lineage to survive the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event approximately 66 million years ago. Dinosaurs can therefore be divided into avian dinosaurs, or birds; and non-avian dinosaurs, which are all dinosaurs other than birds.

 HOW DO DINOSAURS LIVE?

Dinosaurs lived on all of the continents. During the 165 million years of dinosaur existence, this supercontinent slowly broke apart. Its pieces then spread across the globe into a nearly modern arrangement by a process called plate tectonics. The Earth had heavy vegetation near coasts, lakes, and rivers, but desert in its interior. During the Jurassic Period, the continents gradually broke apart. The world was warm, moist, and full of green plants. During the Cretaceous Period, most of the continents had separated.

 What do dinosaurs eat ?

Most dinosaurs ate plants, just like most animals today. But some ate meat. We also guess that some ate insects and fruits. The plant-eaters ate ferns and herbs and leaves from trees. Some dinosaurs ate lizards, turtles, eggs, or early mammals. Some hunted other dinosaurs or scavenged dead animals. Most, however, ate plants.

how did dinosaurs become extinct

Dinosaurs became extinct at the end of the Cretaceous period, approximately 65 million years ago. While some scientists think a large asteroid killed off the dinosaurs (also known as the impact theory), many paleontologists feel that climate change due to a drop in sea level might have been responsible.

THE END OF DINOSAURS

The extinction of the dinosaurs is a captivating mystery. Fossils of these massive creatures have been found across the entire earth, including on Antarctica and many islands. There are numerous theories as to why these great creatures died out, but none have been confidently proven. While many scientists support an evolutionary geological .
