While Yadu is lost in these thoughts, suddenly a man's voice brings his attention back! A well-dressed man, carrying several bags of clothes, stands in front of him! "Brother, are you going?" The man asks Yadu.
"Certainly, Sir!" Yadu quickly starts wiping the seat of his rickshaw with his neck towel.
The man sits in the rickshaw and says, "I'll go through Raghunath Market to Chatterjee Para!"
Yadu nods and says, "Okay, Sir!" He then calculates in his mind, "The fare to Raghunath Market is 50 rupees, and from there to Chatterjee Para is 70 rupees; the total fare is 120 rupees! But I need at least 300 rupees!"
"Come on, why are you standing? I am getting late! Let's go quickly!"
"Yes, Sir, let's go!" Yadu starts driving quickly!
"Finally, you're ready to go! In this scorching sun, there isn't a single rickshaw at the stand, and those who are near the stand don't want to go either! It's really hot today!" As Yadu is listening, the man's phone rings. "Yes, speak! You called, but sorry, I couldn't receive your call!"
"Don't mention it! What happened? I was standing at the signal, and suddenly an auto rammed me from behind! The rear of the bike is cracked, I took it to the garage! They said to come after a day to pick up the bike, and now I'm taking a rickshaw to Raghunath Market! I need to buy some things and pick up the cake I ordered!"
"Oh, yes, yes! He was saying that on the first wedding anniversary, if the cake isn't cut at midnight, your wife will cut off my head!"
"No, I haven't bought the gift yet! The anniversary party is in the evening, so I'll take my wife in the morning to buy the gift!"
"Your wife has already picked a necklace from the Roy & Sons jewelry shop, I have to gift her that!"
"Where are you now?"
"Okay, hold on, let me check, I'll tell you!" The man then calls Yadu and says, "Brother, can you turn the rickshaw towards Station Road? My friend is standing there, I'll pick him up, and then we can head to the market from there. You will have to take a longer route, but don't worry, I'll pay you extra for the fare!"
Hearing this, it felt as if Yadu had found the moon! He gets more excited and starts driving faster!
After taking the man to his correct destination, Yadu gets 320 rupees in his hand! It feels like a blessing from God, and seeing his intense wish, God opened a way to fulfill it!
After paying the rickshaw owner 100 rupees for the day, Yadu buys rice, lentils, potatoes, chilies, and some tiny shrimp. Radharani cooks a delicious spicy shrimp dish! She made this same dish during their first wedding, and the taste is still fresh in his mouth!
On his way home, Yadu buys a red sari with big flowers from Ram Dada's printed sari shop!
When he reaches home, he gives Radharani the groceries, but hides the sari! After eating the delicious spicy shrimp and lentils cooked by Radharani, they both went to sleep! Through the cracked roof, the moon of the night is visible!
Yadu asks, "Radharani, what time do you think it is?"
Radharani says, "What does time matter now? Sleep now, we'll get up early tomorrow to work!"
Yadu says, "Do you know, Radharani! Big people, on their wedding anniversary, cut the cake at midnight the day before, and the next day, they throw a big celebration and gift gold necklaces to their wives!"
Radharani replies, "Big people have a lot of money for these things! Stop talking about all this, just go to sleep!"
Yadu asks, "Radharani, do we have sugar at home?"
Radharani says, "No, what are you going to do with sugar at this time? Sleep now, I am feeling so sleepy!"
Yadu replies, "Oh, I'll sleep later! Today is a special day, our first wedding anniversary! If we couldn't cut the cake at midnight the night before, it's okay. Tonight, at midnight, we'll have puffed rice and chilies, and we'll celebrate! You quickly bring the puffed rice and chilies with some oil!"
Radharani goes to the kitchen to make the puffed rice and chilies, and during that time, Yadu takes out the red printed sari and keeps it ready!
When Radharani returns with the puffed rice, Yadu gives her the sari and says, "I can't give you a gold necklace, but this red sari will look really good on you!"
Radharani is very happy when she receives the sari! She hugs it and smiles at Yadu, saying, "What are you saying? This sari is worth more than any gift worth millions of rupees!"
Then Radharani takes a large red handkerchief tied to her sari and hands it to Yadu, saying, "This is for you, from me, on our first wedding anniversary!"
Yadu takes the handkerchief and sees that it is beautifully embroidered with his favorite yellow thread, and written on it is "Shubh Vivah Varshganti" (Happy Wedding Anniversary)!!
