The door was locked. John was sitting on the couch, excited beyond measure. He had received different kinds of treats on his sixth birthday and he intended to gulp all of them the same day.

Meanwhile, his mom Sara knocked at the door. As he opened the door, she noticed the big jar on the table beside his bed. Glancing at his treats, she warned: "John, It's good to see that you've got enough treats to enjoy but remember! Not more than a bar of chocolate or five candies in a day."

John who was grinning from ear to ear the whole time, got gloomy in a while. He thought for a second and inquired: "Why mom?"

Sara knew explaining anything to him would be useless. She replied in a hurry: " You will develop two horns like a devil. Scary much, isn't it?" And rushed towards the kitchen to check the pot of boiling water she kept for making tea.

John never took warnings seriously. He knew it was a way to prevent him from performing a specific task. He looked at the treats greedily and closed the door.

It was 10:00 pm. John was preparing to sleep but his attention always diverted towards the huge jar of treats placed over the table. He felt the urge to gulp a few more candies as the sweets he ate during the daytime were insufficient. He removed his blanket and grabbed some candies from the jar. For a moment, he remembered his mother's advice but then he shook his head and ate the candies.

John was feeling headache when he woke up in the morning. He headed towards the bathroom but he was shocked by what he saw in the mirror.

Two horns over his head!

John became terrified. He screamed as he rushed towards the kitchen. Sara who
was preparing the breakfast, gazed at his son astonishingly.

"Mom, mom. I'm so sorry. I ate more candies despite of your warning and look, what happened..." John was sobbing.

Sara's heart grieved as she saw her son's condition. She hugged him, thought for a moment and replied: "Don't worry my son. We will visit Saint Seuss's home after the breakfast. I'm sure he would have a solution to it."

John smiled and hugged his mom.
