Ronald was known far and wide in the city rat community for his unique sense of style and humour. He'd been seen wearing colourful, outrageous outfits- everything from a top hat and cape to an array of mismatched socks and a flowery dress. His fellow rats were mesmerized by his catchy dance moves, lively singing, and hilarious jokes.
When Ronald first arrived in the rat colony, the other rats' heads tilted quizzically as they watched him perform a jaunty dance and whistle a strange tune. Confused by his eccentric behaviour, they ran away from him. But, night after night, Ronald continued to entertain them with his oddball antics until one day curiosity got the better of them, and they decided to give him a chance.
They soon found that Ronald was a fun and charismatic rat to hang out with, but not everyone liked him, one rat who was much larger than all the others wanted to banish Ronald from the city. He couldn't stand how popular Ronald had become, his name was over billboards in the city, he was putting on live shows, doing television interviews and had even been offered his own TV show. He was a star.
The large rat began to spread rumours about Ronald to try and tarnish his reputation. He tried to convince the other rats that Ronald was too frivolous for their serious lifestyle, that he didn't take things seriously enough and that his behaviour was a bad influence on them all. But none of it worked; Ronald's charm, humour and enthusiasm were just too infectious. The larger rat then came up with an idea, he'd challenge Ronald at the talent show, which was the largest show the city had ever hosted. The prize a Pound 1 million TV deal and a luxury apartment. Now this was his chance to steal the lime light from Ronald, so he found a location where he could practise his rock and roll undisturbed by others, he practised day and night and was sure he could beat Ronald.
However! Ronald to had been rehearsing for his part in the talent show, and he had been practising in front of anyone who would watch him, he too was sure he would win. The night before the talent show, Ronald was rehearsing when the larger rat came in, 'HEY' he said in a gruff voice, I've a challenge for you. Ronald looked at him, he didn't seem bothered in the slightest," What's that? Ronald replied. If you lose at the talent show, you leave this city and never come back, said the larger rat. "and if I win." replied Ronald, You admit defeat and except me for who I am. " The larger rat agreed to this.
He watched as Ronald spun and leaped across the stage, his movements perfectly in sync with the music. As he walked away, an idea formed in his mind; he would take Ronald's dance moves and incorporate them into his own Rock and Roll routine. His palms began to sweat at the thought of performing in front of a live audience, but he was determined to make it work. He just had to practice, practice, practice. The next morning before anyone was awake, the larger rat took a sneak peak at the talent show line up, to his delight he was going to be performing before Ronalds show stopper, " I'll show him" laughed the larger rat as he walked off.
It wasn't long before the City was a hive of activity, people had come from all over the world as they had heard of Ronald and they knew that he was set to be the showstopper. They were happy to pay even if it meant they had to stand up for the entire talent show they didn't care. Ronald and all the other performers were back stage getting ready. The larger rat was secretly rehearsing his routine and perfecting it. He was sure that it would eliminate Ronald, what he didn't know was Ronald had decided to add in a little twist to his routine, which he hadn't revealed to anyone, the question now was, who would win the grand prize.
The countdown to the show had finally started, the judges were taking their seats, the host came onto the stage and welcomed everyone for coming before announcing the first contestant. With each passing moment the larger rat became more eager to get on stage and perform and soon it was his turn, He walked out on to the stage as the crowd cheered, he took a bow and started his performance, from backstage the other rats could see what was happening and they realised that he had stolen part of Ronalds showstopper. They informed Ronald, who didn't take anything seriously and laughed it off. " don't worry" he replied I'll soon fix him. The rats looked at each other, none of them could understand why he wasn't bothered. The larger rat finished his performance and received a huge standing ovation, he couldn't believe it, the audience loved him.
Before long it was time for the showstopper, and Ronald was prepared, " Good Luck sneered the larger rat, thinking that he had ruined Ronalds act. The audience went wild as he was introduced on stage. Ronald stood for a few seconds then, he suddenly started performing a completely new dance, none of the other rats had seen him do it before, he leapt into the air, did summersaults and completely wowed the audience. The large rat, stood back stage he couldn't believe that Ronald had changed his entire performance, he thought he had been clever by stealing it. Now all he could do was wait for the judges to make their decision.
It wasn't long before the results were in, the host stepped out on the stage and invited all of the contestants to join him. In no particular order he went through and eliminated all of them but Ronald and the larger rat they stood side by side waiting. The host opened the results and said " and the winner of the talent show is? " The audience fell silent and the drum roll echoed across the stage.

Ronald leapt into the air, he could hardly believe that he had won the largest show to come to the city, The larger rat, now had to admit defeat, he reluctantly shook Ronalds foot and congratulated him, "Well it looks as if the best rat won after all." Ronald smiled, thankyou he said gratefully.
The larger rat, realised that his behaviour had been unacceptable and even offered to leave the city, but Ronald wouldn't hear of it, so he offered him the chance to perform on his new television show.
