She touched my life. And when she did, I changed forever. I used to complain bitterly about trivial problems in life. I would feel so aggravated and consider myself the unluckiest person on earth because I sat on my i- phone and crushed the screen; or because I lost a Rolex watch; or because I committed a little mistake in an exam. I`d be gloomy the entire day.
I`d been through very unfortunate circumstances. Girls have dumped me; I`ve lost huge sums of money, I`ve missed job opportunities; but when I failed a paper in my third year in the university, that was the worst I could take. A lot went through my mind. First; suicide; then the thought of quitting school. But my pals managed to talk me out of these thoughts. So instead of suicide or quitting school, I resorted to drinking. I skipped lectures very often. I`d given up on education. I stopped praying and attending church services, and I stayed away from people as well. My friends gave up on me. I don`t blame them. They`d tried their best to help me forget about the failure and move on with life, but I wouldn`t. Life became meaningless to me.
Truth is, I never really got over that failure; not until I met her. It was a crisp Thursday morning. I`d ended lectures for the day and was waiting for a shuttle to my hostel when she came to sit right next to me. She had long lustrous hair, cute round face, wide blue eyes, creamy dark skin, with a cute ark of a smile glistening through her teeth. Her beauty stole my attention from my problems for a moment.
"Hi" she greeted. "Are you okay? You seem worried" she asked sedately.
"No, I`m not," I replied, heavy-heartedly.
She touched my leftshoulder.
"Whatever the problem is, trust in the Lord, and everything will be fine." She comforted me, as she dropped her handbag on the bench.
"Trust in the Lord? I`ve been praying to this God all the time, yet I keep getting unlucky." My voice trailed off.
"What`s it that`s you`re going through?" she asked me.
"I`d rather not talk about it right now." I didn`t want to broadcast my failure to a total stranger.
She sighed. "I lost both of my parents in a car crash less than two weeks ago, and I`m not cursing God for it. I grow stronger in the Lord each passing day. Keep your trust in Him" She said, then she picked up her handbag, got up and left.
I never met her again, but her story touched my life and changed me forever. Now I`m not moved by what happens to me in life; I just keep my trust in God, no matter what happens.
Sometimes you meet some people once in your lifetime, and then they touch your life forever.
Who knows, these people could be angels, sent by God to help us deal with a difficult situation.
