The private hostel was located at an isolated place. This was nothing new for Anny, her parents had always kept her alone and distant from everyone saying that she needed to focus on her studies and avoid distractions. Both her parents worked and hence were never available at home and she was restricted from having friends. Her lonely mind took solace in the fairytales her nanny used to tell her as a kid and as she grew up, she started making an imaginary world of her own.
One day in school, she overheard some girls about how they were playing with a board. They were giggling and talking about how the coin moved and blamed each other. After school, Anny went to the hostel and instantly opened her laptop searching for a board and coin game. 'Ouija' popped in front of her. She started researching more about it and found everything interesting. She instantly ordered one and kept reading more and more about the game, the rituals, the warnings, everything.
The day, the package arrived, she lied to the warden that it was some stationary for a school project. Butterflies danced in her stomach when she finally opened the package and got the board and the planchette out along with a piece of paper with 'WARNING' written in bold. Anny didn't bother about the paper and threw it together with the brown packaged paper in the dustbin. She has already read a lot about the game and was confident in her knowledge. Keeping the board on the bed she went to her study table to complete her schoolwork early so she could stay up late at night to play Ouija.
After dinner, Anny got a box out of the closet. It was a gift from her nanny when she left home. Anny opened the box and got a human-girl-shaped, plastic doll out of it. The doll was about 3 feet tall and Anny had a plan for it. She understood that it would not be possible for her to get another person for the Ouija ritual as it had been advised and since she had to keep it a secret, she decided to make the doll sit with her when she called out for the spirit using the board. She didn't know if it would work but it was the only way for her.
When the clock showed midnight, Anny turned off all the lights in the room, lit candles, and kept them on the four corners of the Ouija board while she sat close to it. She kept her finger on the planchette and adjusted the doll's finger on top of hers. After one hour of performing the rituals, she went to bed smiling.
The next day she was affirmative that her doll was possessed but that didn't worry her instead, she was happy that now she had someone to talk to, and she didn't feel lonely anymore. Not all spirits are bad after all.
On the second day, Anny couldn't wait to return to the hostel. She wanted to spend time with the doll and talk with her. Whatever she asked the doll gestured the answers and Anny tried guessing them. It was so much fun for her.
On the third day, the doll started acting weird and moody. It kept looking at Anny strangely and followed her while moving her hand repeatedly up to her mouth. Anny couldn't understand anything. She tried her best but the doll was so aggressive with the demand which left Anny speechless and she ignored the doll.
On the fourth day, Anny's room was in chaos. The doll threw things at Anny and a knife almost hit her hand but thankfully she dodged it on time. It broke many items in the kitchen and seemed restless not letting Anny take a breath so, she left for school in a foul mood after scolding the doll. She didn't want its tantrums anymore, didn't want it around anymore. She decided to skip school tomorrow and make the spirit leave the doll.
On the fifth day evening, Anny lay on the floor while blood oozed profusely out of her stomach right from the spot where the doll had stabbed her ten minutes ago. Anny's eyes flickered rapidly and her world was slowly turning black while the doll sat there licking her blood and feasting on her flesh. Its little hands and mouth felt like a rat gnawing her body.
"Hungry. It was so hungry. How could I not understand? Oh, how wrong I was about everything." were the last words Anny spoke, and the doll's satisfied face was the last thing she saw before her body went lifeless.
