The Karen

Most of us have met or experienced the arrogant or snobbish stuck-up females who act like ass-holes and think the world revolves around them. They’re the women who think their shit doesn’t stink and that they’re too good to be around regular people or those who they feel are less than them. They feel entitled, and anything less than exceptional is considered an insult to them. Most of us call them a "Karen" because of their entitled or privileged attitude. If you haven’t met those kinds of women, consider yourself lucky or, as some folk say, “blessed”.

Chapter 1

Elizabeth Victoria Stuart (aka Beth) prided herself on being privileged around town. She was a mother of two kids and deeply involved in her community, often finding herself entangled in the lives of her neighbors. Now, don't get it twisted?Beth was not a selfless do-gooder, genuinely concerned for everyone's well-being. No, she was more of a smart-mouthed country bumpkin, who fancied herself sophisticated and classy; but she was quite the handful. She had a knack for stirring the pot, and her lively personality often left folks shaking their heads, half amused and exasperated. Most wanted to lay hands on her and it wasn't to pat her on the back but to give her a swift kick in the pants.

No one in her neighborhood or friends circle ever wanted any association with her because of her bad reputation. Beth was known as "The Karen", for her entitled behavior and being overly dramatic whenever she disagreed with people or when she couldn't get her way; always stirring up trouble. She had a knack for making life difficult for people outside of her little bubble, especially for those who didn't share her privileges, who come from different cultures, or who were in non-traditional relationships.

Her life outside was also a whirlwind of chaos, and her work life was no stroll in the park, either. Beth was head teller at a bank, and she had a tendency to get a bit?..let's call it "overly dramatic" when it came to certain customers; her suspicion or envy would send her into a tizzy. Some of her co-workers also dubbed her a "Karen" also because she would exaggerate or escalate things that weren't that serious. They could totally see Beth's vibe shift whenever the customers came in to cash large checks, it triggered something in Beth that could only be described as her inner detective. Everyone would exchange knowing glances, fully aware of the storms about to unfold.

Rather than viewing the transactions as just part of her job, she felt compelled to delve deeper, questioning the source of their income and the nature of their employment. It didn't matter if they were regulars coming for years. She was set in her ways and felt justified in prying into their accounts. More often than not, she would go so far as to insinuate that they might be involved in some sort of shady dealings, casting a shadow of doubt over their integrity.

Beth's approach raises some serious red flags about trust and professionalism. Instead of creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, her actions might unintentionally push customers away, making them feel like they're being watched rather than just going through a normal transaction. It's one thing to be careful with financial matters, but jumping to conclusions based on assumptions is another story. Beth should take a step back and re-evaluate how her behavior impacts those she's there to assist. Building strong relationships with the customers is vital and it should be built on understanding and connection, not doubt and suspicion.
