After three years, I'm still heartbroken since my beloved grandma died of a sudden heart attack in Pok Oi Hospital on a quiet night. I can't describe the emptiness inside my heart after losing her. And I won't forget the night that she passed away.
On that night, I received my elder sister's phone call at around 3:15am, while my parents were still sleeping. After that, I woke my parents up and told them the updated news about grandma. They were shocked. And they wore the clothes immediately. Later, when we arrived in the hospital, we were asked to wait outside the emergency room. Everybody inside the ward was sleeping. We felt nervous, but the door of the emergency room was still closed.
It was not the first time that my grandma was sent to the hospital so suddenly. We expected that she could be discharged after sending to the hospital for a few days. However, she couldn't do that this time. She couldn't wake up this time.
Around 3:35am, a male nurse asked us to enter the patient's room. He told us that my grandma couldn't function anymore. And he explained that they tried their best to save my grandma's life because they just injected three cardiac stimulants to her. However, my grandma was very old and her body was very weak. Then, we should let her go. And it's time to do the last thing to her.
We looked at her body lying on the patient's bed silently. We didn't know how to speak. After standing for more than 15minutes, we were aware that grandma passed away already. We didn't expect that she left without saying anything.
On that night, my grandma didn't wake up again. I didn't know why she could leave us silently. Such kind of last journey was so quiet.
