------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was a normal day when Zack's life changed. He was walking down the street, just coming back from running some errands for his sister. He glanced around at the other demi-humans walking down the sidewalk, going about their lives. He quite enjoyed people watching.

The lion ears on top of his head twitched as he listened to his surroundings. He was always on the lookout for danger. Zack knew he didn't really have to worry about anything, but it was something he had picked up on from his childhood.

He walked past an alleyway and paused, his ears flicking in the direction of the dark alley. He took a step back and peered inside. He heard a struggle, a confrontation. He turned and walked down the dark alley, approaching the sound of voices.

"Come on, pretty boy. You know you want some of this," a slimy voice spoke, followed by laughter from what sounded like three people. "Everyone does. You should feel lucky I'm willing to give you some."

Another voice responded. It was a male's voice, but it was soft and quiet, not like the other voice at all. Zack had to strain his ears to hear him. "I told you I didn't want to.. Just leave me alone..."

Zack stepped closer until he came upon the scene. Three alphas were harassing a poor omega. His eyes scanned the bigger men, trying to decipher what species they were mixed with. One was some sort of dog, another was a bird, and the third was a feline, like himself. His eyes moved to the omega, and he felt his heart stutter in his chest.

The boy was cute. He was a dog demi as well. He seemed to be a Pitbull, or maybe even a wolf. He had the same features most omegas did.
Small body, a bit shorter than average, a cute face, pretty eyes. Zack couldn't deny the way he was drawn in. He felt a sudden protective urge, his fists clenching at his sides. He stepped forward, making his presence known to the other alphas.

"You heard him, he said he didn't want it," Zack said, his voice loud and confident. He stepped in front of the omega, his tail lashing behind him. The other alphas backed up, all glancing at each other. Zack was bigger than them, and his piercing green eyes glinted with a certain danger, a warning that he didn't like to be messed with.

They all hesitated, until the feline demi stepped up. "And what are you going to do about it?" He challenged. Zack turned his attention to him. He snarled and stepped forward, causing them to shrink back further. "You don't want to know," he responded.

The leader scoffed and turned away, leading his lackeys away. "Wasn't even worth it," he grumbled. Zack rolled his eyes and turned to face the omega, who was looking at him with wonder. "You alright?" he asked.

The omega's eyes roamed the stranger, admiring his appearance. He was muscular, but not overwhelmingly so. He had caramel colored skin and these deep emerald eyes that he could get long in. His long black hair cascaded around his shoulders and down his back, framing his face perfectly. He nodded at the stranger's question. "Yes.. I'm alright. Thank you for your help," he murmured.

Zack gave him a smile and took a step back, giving him his space. "Good, I'm glad," there was a beat of silence, the two just staring at each other, before Zack realized he should introduce himself. "I'm Zack, by the way. It's nice to meet you," he said, offering his hand for
a handshake.

The omega looked at the outstretched hand and took it in his own, giving a firm handshake. "Trevor," he responded. "It's nice to meet you as well," he said, giving the alpha a kind smile.

Zack's touch lingered for a moment before he quickly withdrew it, his cheeks burning a bit as he stuck his hands in his pockets. "Well, uhm. I've gotta get going. I hope to see you around again soon!" he said before turning and rushing off, his cheeks burning with embarrassment.

He walked down the sidewalk once more, a sigh escaping his lips. He felt stupid for not at least asking for the other man's number or something, but that would've been too forward, right? Zack was horrible at these kinds of things.

He sighed as he walked down the street, the omega's face sticking in his mind like glue. His words were true. He really hoped to see the omega again. Little did he know, the whole course of his life had just changed, and he'd start to see that omega a lot more than he anticipated.
