The one who wasn’t there

The swanky red ‘mean machine’ just rammed big on to the banyan, with a terrific thud, that stood sturdy for the past many decades as the icon of an entire locality, now this colossus lay shattered in parts and lies scattered, the brilliant red debris of the flamboyant SUV, beyond recognition. Everything happened in a matter of seconds, in a flash. Without much difficulty comes out the one who drove the car, unable to take in the fact that such a high intense collision has occurred. With a heavy heart he looked at the debris of his beloved carrier lying scattered beyond recognition. For a few moments he remained immobile, absolutely startled, unable to acknowledge the high octane incident that has happened just now. He wore a heavy sigh of relief, after collecting himself up and said “just survived, by god’s grace”. But something was nagging him within, perhaps it could be the multiple drinks he had just before setting on with the road rage probably, and with the thud those gulps too seems to have lost the fizz the big way, desperately needing yet another high, he just strolled through the hostile localities before fixing his sight firmly on the board that read ‘bar’. The joy that followed was uncontainable and in a flash he just got into and ordered the best of the drink available there without wasting any more time.

Everything seemed too strange at his new found place of getting ‘high’, for he was repeatedly unheard. The bartender seemed too aloof, ignored his presence recurrently by pretending not to hear him and now in a fit of anger he started yelling at the bartender, “serve my order now, or else…”.In spite of all these furiousness unabridged, nothing seemed to be going his way,
in utter chaosness he just left the place in search of another one, probably the one in which people would respond to him with some courtesy and now he found another one somewhere very far from the first one, but this commutation never seemed to be a difficult one as he was able to fathom distances in a matter of seconds everything seems to be happening at a different pace, and now he dashes into the newly found place of  getting ‘high’ and without the slightest of thought he orders his drink. Yet again rejection at the bartender’s end, this time he could no longer contain it and in a flash he jumps over the serving table delivering a strong blow right on to the bartender’s nose.”Good God, is he not a human”? He just remains absolutely still even after receiving the blow!!” startled, perplexed, he just remained in a state of dilemma, unable to acknowledge the lukewarm responses rather non responses that he received throughout the various encounters that ensued just after surviving the scary car accident. On his way out from the bar, he noticed an intense bright light that seemed to follow him, “who these light beings are? Could it be the cops who are on the lookout for me”, the one who drove the car that met with a fatal accident? Now the light seemed to be getting even brighter but this was a truly strange  thing, without the slightest of hesitation he just ran away and after covering some distance he could no longer run and with utmost frightfulness he just turned back to see if the light still followed him. He is free now, as no longer did the light follow him. Relieved of that scary experience now he sets out on another unknown
path with an unknown plan, suddenly he started getting a gut feel that something was horribly amiss, like something he has dropped from within after that mishap involving his vehicle, now he decides to visit the accident spot and moved briskly in that direction, the accident site was cordoned off by the cops in an attempt to demarcate the spot and not to lose the vital proofs of the incident. The sight of his dear SUV laying in shatters was truly unbearable for him, in midst of all these melodrama something unbelievable was happening, the cops with utmost difficulty was pulling out a corpse from the debris, “oh lord! Was there someone else with me in the car, who could it have been? ”, the cops, after making a great concerted effort  somehow pulled out the corpse that showed no signs of a probable revival and placed it on the medical stretcher, he rushed forward to see who it was, what next followed were breathtaking, spine chilling moments, he could not believe his senses, “what am I seeing, am I hallucinating “? He was motionless, his heart missed a good number of beats, a cold wave swept through him,  almost went into a state of numbness unable to palpate the scenes unraveling right in front of  his eyes. Even the toughest of human, mentally, for that matter would have passed out, if faced with a similar predicament. The corpse that lay on stretcher was of none other than his own….
