Chapter One: The Unexpected Downpour.

Maya hated the rain. It wasn't just about getting wet; it was about the memories it carried.

Memories of being abandoned at a bus stop as a child,of heart breaks that always seem to happen under gray skies.

So, when the first rain drop splattered onto her note book on the outdoor caf�, she sighed heavily.

She gathered her things quickly, but before she could step away, a gust of wind flip her Umbrella inside out. The rain poured harder, and just as she was about to sprint for cover, someone appeared beside her, holding out a large black umbrella.

"Looks like you could use some help".

Maya turned to see a man with warm brown eyes and a lopsided grin. He was tall, dressed in a dark hoodie, and despite the rain, he looked completely at ease.

"I-uh- thanks", she stammered, stepping closer under the umbrella.

"I'm Ethan", he said offering a hand.

"Maya", she replied shaking it.

The caf� was too crowded for shelter, and the nearest bus stop was ten minutes walk away. With no other choice, they walked together through the rain, huddling close under the umbrella.

"So do you always rescue strangers in storms?" Maya asked half-joking.

Ethan chuckled. "Only the ones who looked like they might curse the sky"

Maya laughed despite herself.

Maybe the rain wasn't so bad after all.
