I returned from vacation to find that a mischievous mouse had invaded my kitchen, causing chaos by chewing through my hamam qaleen, the walls, and ruining stored vegetables. Determined to catch him, I bought a mouse trap from Shalimar and successfully trapped him. Initially furious, I felt sympathy when I saw his terrified eyes, so I released him in an isolated plot, thinking he'd stay away. However, the next day, he returned, confidently exploring the kitchen. I trapped him again, but this time, I decided to keep him in the trap for a couple of days to break his confidence. A cat showed up, trying to get at him, adding to his terror. Eventually, I felt guilty and released him at Dachigam National Park, where he gave me a grateful glance before disappearing. My kitchen has been mouse-free since, but I can’t help but half expect him to return one day, a little bolder and smarter.
Another twisted tale from book 3, a story called "The Sword, the Word, and the Writing." Told from a Carib-Jamericanadian perspective, with a twisted comedic edge. Presented (sometimes) in a richly blended language mix of, nonsense talk, sensational spelling, double entendre, and Jamaican patois inserted here and there throughout, as may be found fitting.
