This proverb means that one should do the right thing at the right time before it is too late.

There were two friends in a town called Ameso.The name of the first friend was Hermen while the name of the second friend was Eket. They were attending thesame secondary school.Hermen ambition was to become a medical doctor in the

future while Eket ambition was to become mechanical engineer.To Hermen teaching was a wretched profession. The two friends sat for the Entrance Exams into the university.Eket passed and he was admitted to study Mechanical Engineering but Hermen failed he was not admitted.Hermen

parents told him to change his determination not to waste time but he refused.When Hermen wanted to resit for another exam into university his parents died in a ghastly accident.

The incident paralised and terminated his academic ambition.He wept profusely. There was nobody who is financially able to sponsor his education again. His friend passed out excellently as a graduate of Mechanical Engineering in Ameso University while Hermen is now working in his uncle's piggery.

Therefore, a stitch in time saves nine.
