Jay was all you could imagine in your dreams. Young, tall, handsome, earning much more than his peers. He had a BMW, latest iPhone, hi-end branded clothes and accessories, and an apartment all to himself. That covered for his brashness and arrogance. He was the go-to guy for fun and frolic. He made you go bonkers with the money spent on you to woo you if he took a liking. At any point he had a dozen relationships going. He was an open book with everyone knowing his debonair status but none wanting to disturb the perks coming her way.

Licy was the new recruit to his sales team. Quiet, young, strong headed, single woman. Within a month, she had proved her value to his team and soon became his pillar of strength on the work-front. Jay had tried his best to sweep her off her feet but was unsuccessful. Soon he realized that he had fallen for her. She was different from all he had encountered so far. The past few days he had sobered down. This was no longer a desire for conquest. It was now a need to find the balance in life and settle down with someone like Licy.

With his thoughts on Licy, Jay was on his way home one day speeding on his BMW along the lonely highway late at night. A mighty crash caused by a drowsy trucker led his vehicle to somersault over the barrier and into a world of unconsciousness and broken bones. Would he survive the inevitable…

The string of calls and messages from her colleagues woke up Licy in the dead of night. Soon she realised the gravity of the situation and rushed to the hospital. Jay was in the emergency room with the medical team having stabilized him, awaiting instructions to
proceed on the plan of treatment. Licy asked for an update and was told that he needed to be wheeled into surgery to fix his broken ribs and ruptured lungs. In the next couple of hours, she signed the paperwork and handled the Company group insurance papers. The Corporate office and HR working from another city meant there was none to take care of such procedures in person. She swung into action getting a few colleagues to be available at the hospital in shifts while ensuring the office worked simultaneously at the same vigor as before. For the next one month, the hospital was practically her office; keeping tabs on his health and recovery, supporting his mother who had flown in from her hometown, ensuring the hospital continued the treatment as required and still managing to keep the sales figures and the team’s enthusiasm at the top for Jay and his team.

Three months on, Jay returned to his office – bones fixed and spirit intact. The office gave him a grand welcome and wished him well. Each of them was connected to him since the accident as Licy had ensured everyone’s contribution at the hospital as well as at the office, and his immediate reportees keeping him abreast on the business side. Once everyone was back to his or her desk, Jay found himself alone with Licy. No words were needed… no glances were exchanged...  the silence in his cabin spoke a lot. The fragrance of all the flowers given to him could not match the wonderful peace both Jay and Licy felt in that moment. Both knew that life had taken an unexpected twist and that the accident episode had intertwined their lives and their future for good. Surely, each had found a life-partner…
