I am waiting for the school van and it was my first day. My parents call me Sabarish and others call me… oh! I forgot! No one calls me. I rarely talk to anyone. I don’t like people. They never understand me. My mom and dad were always busy. They left for work already. And I am sitting here with my babysitter who works for the sake of money and she doesn't even know what grade I am in. I am in grade 4. My thoughts of loneliness were interrupted by the arrival of the school van.

Everyone in my class ignores me as usual. In the same way, I don't talk to anyone. Meanwhile, a girl come and sit behind me with a long black straight hair. By offering her hand, she introduced herself. “ Hai! I am Anamika, you can call me Anu” she said. For the first time in my life, I said "Hai" and I soaked my hand with someone. Despite it being weird, I am happy. I don’t know what to talk next. My lips stayed sealed. She continued by saying that she was also new and did not have a friend in the class. she keep talking about her family and school, blabbering on and on.

Soon we became close friends. I don't know why I like her, but I do. Whenever we do something, we do it together. Our activities include playing, eating, and doing homework, etc. Anu always has a cute smile on her face that makes me forget all the things that have been bothering me all these years. Now I don't have to worry about my busy parents. As a result, I stopped asking for their time. There is only one thing I want: Anu.

As I was chatting with Anu one day, my
math teacher came and asked me what was up. I said we were discussing taking part in the drama that will be held next week. Her gentle hand touched my shoulder as she said she would like to talk to my parents about the drama competition. I have no idea why she wants to discuss it with my parents.

After school, my parents came to visit my teacher. Their conversation lasted an hour. I don't know what was going on. Have I done anything wrong? What are they talking about ? The answer is unknown to me. However, I was confused and worried.

At last, the teacher came out of the office room and explained that there had been some political issues, so they were giving 20 days off. I was utterly shocked. I cannot imagine how I would spend my time without  Anu. The tears started flowing and I couldn't stop them. Anu consoled me and said goodbye. She waves her hand with a cute smile on her face. I never know that it was the last time I am seeing her.

Having tears in my eyes, my mom said we were going on a world trip during these 20 days. That news surprised me, but Anamika is still on my mind. During our trip, we visited many countries. The whole time, I was enjoying my parents' company. Never in a million years would I expect my parents to do this for me. It almost got to the point where I stopped missing Anu. After 20 days, I returned to school. However, Anamika wasn't present. I have no idea what to do. There was no sign of her.

I haven't heard from her for 4 days now. Finally, I asked teacher about her.  As a result of her father's transfer, she and her family
moved overseas. I can't stand that. Tears filled my eyes as I returned home. I was consoled by my parents. They started spending more time with me. The days went by. My parents became my closest friends. I don't have a baby sitter who is just interested in making money without caring for me. Now I'm talking with everyone in my class. I have many friends. Since then, my life has changed and I'm so happy.

Sabarish' parents met with his teacher and thanked him for everything. The teacher said, "Keep an eye on him and don't let him feel alone again."  The mother replied, “Without you it will never be possible to make him forget his imaginary friend, ANAMIKA!"
