"Buy me the latest phone," Bryce ordered his mother, Molly. Being the only child, his father, Dorian constantly spoiled him with gifts, which resulted in him being entitled.

"What's wrong with the phone you're using now?" Molly asked.

"Nothing is wrong, but my peers are using this brand, which is cool," Bryce said. "So, are you buying me the phone?"

"No," Molly said firmly. "Like I said, you already have a working phone. There's no way I'm buying you another phone."

"Fine," Bryce nodded and said. Unexpectedly, he picked up a baseball bat and smashed the TV set.

"What do you think you're doing?" Molly asked in shock. "Stop it at once."

"This is what you get for not acceding to my request," he said. Just then, Dorian returned home from work and saw that the living room was in a mess. He demanded to know what was going on. Molly quickly explained to her husband what had happened. But instead of disciplining his son, Dorian blamed his wife.

"What's wrong with you?" he scolded. "None of this would have happened if you had bought him the newest phone." Despite Molly trying to explain that the phone that Bryce wanted to buy was not a necessity, Dorian refused to listen and insisted that she should have acceded to Bryce's request. "Stop spoiling him. One day it's going to be a problem," Molly said. However, Dorian simply dismissed it as pure cynicism. Seeing that his father was on his side, Bryce smirked.

A few days later, Bryce asked Molly to buy him a chocolate bar, but she refused, saying that he had too many sweets for the day. So, he took a bottle of tomato ketchup from the fridge and opened its lid. He then poured ketchup on his hand and took a penknife to create the impression that he was hurting himself. Molly was shocked by this audacity. Just then, Dorian appeared. Before Molly could explain what had happened, he jumped to the conclusion that it was her fault.

"You let him hurt himself over a chocolate? What were you thinking?" Dorian scolded her. Once again, Bryce smirked, knowing he had gotten away with his manipulative act.

Years passed, and Bryce's behavior got worse. He had even joined a street gang. One day, a kidnap victim was brought to the gang's lair, masked. When the victim's mask was lifted, Bryce was shocked that it was none other than his father, Dorian. The gang had also robbed him of HKD1 million. The gang leader handed Bryce a gun and asked him to kill Dorian.

"It's OK, son. I deserve this. I'm a terrible father," Dorian said as tears streamed down his face. Suddenly, Molly appeared out of nowhere and stood between him and Dorian.

"Son, please don't do that," she pleaded. "Your father has always doted on you since you were a kid. If you pull the trigger, there's no turning back."

"What are you waiting for? Pull the trigger," the gang leader shouted. Bryce hesitated but still decided to pull the trigger. Dorian closed his eyes as he awaited his fate.

"Wake up, wake up, honey," Molly's voice could be heard. Dorian woke up and saw his wife by his side. He realized that whatever that had happened was a dream. But at the same time, it dawned on him that Molly was right about him spoiling Bryce and resolved to make things right. He started instilling discipline in his son. It was initially hard, but over time, Bryce stopped being entitled. Dorian was happy that he had the chance to correct his mistakes before it was too late.

You caught me there. Love the twist and the great lesson for parents who believes spoiling is equivalent to love.
