"Ring..." Katie waited for her lover, David to answer the call. When he picked up the call, she was excited.

"Hey darling, where are you?" she asked, putting on her sweetest voice.

"I'm now outside your house. Can I come up now?" asked David.

"Not yet, give me about 5 to 10 minutes. I'll call you when I'm ready."

Katie hung up the call and exited the room. Her husband Elias and their son, Keith were getting ready for an outing.

"Aren't you guys leaving now?" she asked.

"Yeah, trying to get our son ready," Elias replied.

"Mom, are you sure you don't want to come with us?" Keith asked, a bit disappointed.

"Yeah, it's going to be fun. Why don't you join us?" Elias added.

"No thanks, I'm thinking about what to prepare for dinner," Katie replied. Upon hearing this, Keith's eyes lit up.

"I want pasta, or maybe burgers," he suggested.

"Okay well, it's getting late. Why don't you get going now? Besides, it's a weekend, and the crowd will get bigger any time now," Katie said. Elias and Keith said their goodbyes and left. Once she saw Elias and Keith leave the house, she heaved a sigh of relief. "Finally," she mused. She then called David on her mobile phone.

"Hi, darling, they've left," she said excitedly when David picked up the phone.

"They've left? Who's 'they'?" he asked, bewildered. Realising her mistake, she quickly corrected herself, claiming that she had just exited the bathroom and that David could visit her now. Katie quickly applied lip gloss. When she heard a knock on the door, she removed her wedding ring on her finger and went to answer the door. When she saw David, they shared an embrace, and he surprised her with her favourite roses.

Katie and David chatted about how her day had been and they were about to
go further when the door was slightly opened and Elias' voice could be heard at the threshold. He had forgotten to take the water bottles and as such, he had returned to get them. Elias was surprised to see an unfamiliar man in the house.

"What's going on here? Who's this? Who are you?" he asked.

"I'm David. Who are you?" Before Elias could answer, Katie introduced the 2 men to each other. She then passed David off as a tuition teacher, and she was asking him about subjects he taught.

"I haven't heard of you mentioning anything about hiring a tuition teacher," Elias said, apparently still doubtful over Katie's words.

"Well, of course you don't. You're often away at work, and you didn't notice me trying to do so," Katie said nonchalantly.

"What kind of tuition teacher shows up without teaching resources? And he doesn't even dress like a teacher, I mean," Elias challenged her. Katie then made up another story about herself trying to interview David's competency in teaching and they are coming to an agreement about the tuition fee. "Yeah, of course, of course, of course." David said. He then paused for a while and continued, "Well, from the looks of it, my services are required, so the tuition fee might be higher."

"See? That's exactly what happened," Katie told Elias. Suddenly, she remembered Keith, and so she made up an excuse to get Elias to leave the house. Once the door was closed, David asked for an explanation.

"Who was that? Was that your boyfriend?" he threw the question at Katie, who claimed that she did not expect David to find out in this manner.

"You didn't want me to find out this way? Well I found out. Who was he?" he asked. Katie had no choice but to admit that Elias is
her husband. "Your husband? So you're married. Please tell me that the Keith you're talking about...It's your neighbour's son, right?" David continued. Katie admitted that Keith is her son.

"So you're married with a kid?" David threw the question, to which Katie nodded her head. Hearing this, David was displeased.

"Don't you think this is something you should've mentioned earlier?" he asked. "This...this changes things, Katie."

"No please, it doesn't have to," Katie pleaded. "Look, I didn't want to ruin things between us by telling you I was married." She then claimed that she loved David, and that there were no feelings between her and Elias. While David did not want to break up Katie's family, Katie further claimed that her marriage with Elias had long deteriorated before she met him. "But you're still living together right?" asked David. Before Katie could say anything in response, David tried to leave, but not before telling her not to contact him until she became single. Katie stopped him, telling him that she would get rid of Elias and Keith. She then called a number, asking for help to kill someone and arranged for a meet-up. She then sent Elias and Keith's pictures, and her home address to that same number. When she was done, Katie told David that it was the only way they could be together, and that she could get her hands on all of Elias' property if he and Keith died, unlike only half of the property if she and Elias were to divorce. "Are you sure you want to do this?" he asked. "10,000% sure," Katie said firmly. David was shocked by Katie's viciousness and left her house. Katie met her hired hand as arranged, offered the man a sum of money as advanced payment. She repeated her instruction to kill
Elias and Keith when they returned home, and to stage the scene to look like a house robbery, promising to pay him the rest of the amount if the job is done.

That night, Katie left the house to create an alibi. About half an hour later, she received pictures from her hired hand, which showed Elias and Keith's bloodied pictures. She let out an imperceptible smile. "Finally," she mused. She called her hired hand, telling him to meet at her house for his payment. She then got ready to return home, ready to play the role of a wife who returned home to a husband and son who were killed in a house robbery. When she was about to enter the house, she was unexpectedly met by David. "What are you doing here?" he asked. "What do you mean by that? I am worried about my husband and son's safety," she said.

"Katie Cheung Lai-kuen, you're under arrest for the attempted murder of Elias Hon Man-kit and Keith Hon Kum-sum. You have the right to remain silent, but what you said will be used as evidence," David announced, while brandishing his police identification card and a pair of handcuffs. Hearing this, Katie laughed nonchalantly. "Stop joking around, David. What do you think this is? A game?" However, when David repeated his statement, Katie was stunned. "What...what do you mean 'attempted'? Haven't they already been killed?" she asked, her voice trembling. "No, but on the contrary, they're going to be okay. See for yourself," David replied. He brought the handcuffed Katie into the house, where she was confronted by Elias, Keith, who were unscathed, and her hired hand. There were also a few police officers present.

"How can this even be possible? I mean, how can you still be alive?" Katie asked, shocked.
It was when David revealed everything.

It turned out that David had recorded the phone conversation between Katie and her hired hand. Elias then went on to explain that he and Keith had not gone to the park. He had sensed Katie was lying to him about David, and confronted the latter in Katie's absence, and that was when David revealed his identity as an undercover police officer and told them about Katie's plan to hire someone to kill them. David, Elias and Keith secretly followed Katie when she was meeting her hired hand, and once again, David recorded Katie's conversation with her hired hand. When the hired hand left, David followed and intercepted him, informing him about the dire situation he was in and warned him not to help Katie. With David's help, the hired hand, Elias and Keith decided to play along. The hired hand used photo editing software to make it look like Elias and Keith had been killed. He then called the police after confirming Katie was on her way home.

"How could you do this to me?" Katie asked angrily. "You know I love you, and we'll be together, right?" David shook his head and said that he could not be with a woman who tried to kill her own family. He then apologised for having dated Katie, as he had no idea she was married. However, Elias did not blame him, as he was also a victim of Katie's lies. Although he was upset that she tried to kill him and their son, he was glad they were still alive.

"I still can't believe you would do such a vicious thing to us. How can I ever forgive you?" Keith asked, disappointed. "I don't ever want your forgiveness. I just wanted the two of you out
of my life," Katie stared at him and said menacingly. "Yeah right, you're going to get your wish soon. Let's go," said David as he led her away. The hired hand was also accompanied to the police station to have his statement recorded. With Katie arrested, Elias and Keith heaved a sigh of relief, glad that everything was over.
