A cat showed up, trying to get at him, adding to his terror. Eventually, I felt guilty and released him at Dachigam National Park, where he gave me a grateful glance before disappearing. My kitchen has been mouse-free since, but I can’t help but half expect him to return one day, a little bolder and smarter.
