I never had a dog when i was a child, I had a cat, and I loved her so much! Cats roam around on their own, their very independent. I'm now in my thirties, I have small children of my own, I feel its important children learn to respect animal's and what's the best way of teaching children? Get a dog. I'm excited! I'm going to see some puppies, eight-month-old bull mastiff, and Cross Stafford-shire.

I hear they can grow quite large; I'm five foot five I hope the dog doesn't grow too large it will knock me off my feet!

Here goes, I can't wait! Knock, knock. A tall gentleman answers the door, he opens it widely, "Hello, you must be Sophie!"

Hello! that's right, I'm here to see the puppies."

"Thank you, I'm excited to see them! "Roger closes the door behind me as I step inside the hallway of a small house. A young lady brings out two small, puppies from the next room. "Hello! would you like to hold them?" "Ahh, their so cute! Yes, I would love to hold this one." The lady passes me a small, adorable golden colour puppy. The puppy is soft and tiny in the palm of my hand. "She's adorable, your so cute!" The puppy cuddles into my arm, she licks my wrist!

Two large bull mastiff dogs stroll out of a room heading past me and up the stairs. "Wow their big! "The man walks past me, he calls out excitedly, " I think this pup loves you! would you like to hold the other one?" The look in my eyes says it all, I held this cute puppy as if she was my baby. " No, I want this one. I think? I'm sure she wants to come home with me too.! "The lady holding another puppy replies, "your right, she knows straight away you love her." I take out the cash out of my pocket and place it in the man's hand.

"Congratulations! Do you have a name for her?" I unbutton my cardigan and place the pup close to my tummy, I button up a couple of buttons to keep the puppy warm. "Yes, I have a name, I'm going to call her pearl!" The lady smiles, "you have chosen a beautiful name. I hope you enjoy your puppy just as much as we enjoy our dogs!"

"Thank you, I'm sure I will. "I place my puppy in a small dog basket that's placed in my hallway, opposite my staircase. I stroll over to the kitchen, i take hold of a soft, large brown blanket from my kitchen worktop, small paw prints, printed all over it. I stroll back over to the dog basket. "Here you are, pearl. This will keep you warm." I place it gently over my puppy's body, her tiny head poking out from it. She curls her body up into a ball, cozy underneath her warm blanket.

"Goodnight pearl, I will see you in the morning." Her tired eyes close, I open the stair gate and quietly step through it, closing it quietly behind me. I crept up the stairs to my bedroom. My children were wrapped up in their beds, they're going to be excited to see Pearl in the morning."

Mum, mum, come downstairs. we have a puppy!" My son wakes me up, I call down to him, "don't shout, you're startle her, I will be down shortly." My son wakes his two brothers' up. They run out of their rooms with excitement. I hear steps going down the stairs like thunder. "Mum, right, we have a puppy. Can I hold him?" My youngest boy calls out loudly from the bottom of the stairs. I call out loudly from the top of the stairs, "Wait, i will be down shortly, don't pick her up yet," My middle boy replies, "not a girl, do we have to have a girl puppy?"

I walk down the stairs excited to see my puppy, my puppy steps out from her blanket to greet me. Her tail wagged with excitement. I bend down to pick her up, " Here you are, pearl, come to mummy."

My children start laughing. "What's so funny, boys?" My younger boy chuckles, "You're not her mummy, you're our mummy silly. She's a dog." Pearl cuddles into me. I stroke her soft hair. "Yes Toby, you're right, I am your mummy. This puppy belongs to us now. She won't be living with her dog mummy, and she will be living with her human mummy, that's me. I will take care of her now." My middle son looks up at us looking confused, he replies," don't think I will be calling her my sister, that will be silly. "My younger son, strokes her soft hair, he smiles and proudly says, " I don't mind calling her my sister, at least she won't argue with me and take my toys away from me."
