I have never flown before; I see planes flying above me rising high towards the fluffy clouds. I wish every day that was me, taking on a new adventure, what would it be like flying incredibly high. Would I like it? Would I be scared? my mind runs wild.
I'm nervous for the first time in my life just turned forty, I'm going up in a two-person plane with a friend flying it. I trust this person it's going to be okay, I hope it's okay. I see my friend in the distance, he's waiting by the plane. He seems excited to see me, we both wave to each other. I grow closer and closer towards him, I feel nervous about being in the two-person plane. Thoughts rushing through my mind at full speed. I'm closer, I feel sick. Here I am he greets me with a smile, I feel at ease a little.
"Hello Jason!"
"Hello Claire! Are you looking forward to flying with me today?"
I can't say I'm nervous, can I? I'm sure it shows on my face.
"I'm very excited and nervous too, I'm sure it will be okay. Thank you for being able to take me up in your plane."
"You're welcome, it's my pleasure!"
I make myself comfortable in the seat. I feel worried, will it be a bumpy start? Claire come on stop over thinking.
"Claire, here are the headphones, place these on before we get started."
"Okay, thank you." The flight ceiling closes slowly above us. Here we go my friend pressing all these buttons, I'm so scared. I've seen the movies where it goes wrong. The plane starts moving smoothly along the long runway.
"Are you okay Claire? We're going up now."
"Yes, I'm okay. Oh my! that was fast were gliding towards the sky. Oh, wow it's amazing!"
"You're enjoying this Claire, I knew you would."
"I am, so much. Oh wow! Look we are so high. Everything is looking smaller. Whew, wow I'm loving it." My friend looks over at me, gazing at my child like excitement.
"I feel free like a bird, like all my worries are left behind, nothing matters at this moment. Wow!"
The plane glides through the clouds like a knife cutting through butter. I sit back enjoying the amazing views, once what looked big and busy on the ground, seemed small and peaceful. The lands go on and on so colorful and clear. I feel like an angel in the sky looking down on our beautiful world, not wanting it to end.
"Claire will you be looking forward to going up in the big plane to New York?"
"Oh yeah! I can't wait. I want to travel more, it is amazing!"
The plane glides towards the ground, " I'm sad it's over but looking forward to my holiday with my husband. I won't be so nervous, I'm going to go next to the window, my husband will have to fight me for it ha, ha!"
"I know who will win, it's been a pleasure flying with you. I'm happy you enjoyed it."
"I certainly did, I'm so glad I had this opportunity. Thank you, Jason."
My husband waits at home, gazing through the window watching my return. The smile on my face I can't take off says it all. I walk through the door; I excitedly jump up and down like a child excited over Christmas.
"Wow! You look happy. You had fun then?"
I hug him. "I enjoyed it so much! I can't wait for our holiday and then we're go somewhere else after."
"Wow wait up! More holidays, you have the flying bug now, no stopping you!"
The end.
