Larry and his girlfriend, Sarah were in the office getting ready for work. Suddenly, they were called to the lift lobby, where there were a few police officers.
"I'm Senior Investigation Officer Barry Yiu from Tanglin Police Division. Are you Larry Lau Ching-yue and Sarah Ko Sheung-nga?" Both Larry and Sarah nodded. "We suspect you to be involved in a case of aggravated assault. Please follow us back to the police station."
Larry and Sarah were brought to the precinct, where they were interviewed. Apparently, a woman named Meredith Pong Tit-sum had pressed charges against them for aggravated assault. Both Larry and Sarah were shocked, as they had not heard of her name. However, as evidence pointed to their alleged involvement in Meredith's assault, Larry and Sarah were ordered to be detained without the right to bail.
While in the lock-up, Larry and Sarah were wondering how Meredith Pong was assaulted. They were certain they did not know her, as they had never heard of her name. "Could Meredith Pong have conspired with someone to set us up?" Sarah wondered aloud. "Possible," Larry replied. "We don't know who she is. But who would hate us so much to set us up like that?" Larry then remembered Yeon Min-jung, a powerful businesswoman whom they had been investigating for alleged fraud, as she was alleged to have cheated investors' money under the guise of privatization. "We have visited Yeon Min-jung at her company previously but didn't find any incriminating evidence back then. She must have set us up to get us to stop the investigation," he mused. Just then, Officer Edwin Chui, a police officer on duty, entered the lock-up.
"Larry Lau and Sarah Ko, you have a visitor," he announced. They were shocked to see Yeon Min-jung. "What are you doing here?" Larryasked shockingly. Yeon Min-jung ignored the question and mocked at them for getting themselves arrested. She then bragged about how she had conspired with Meredith Pong to cheat investors' money under the guise of privatization and line their pockets, but they avoided prosecution because of their power and status. Yeon Min-jung added that she will be dealing with Meredith Pong in 2 days' time. "I'll definitely find evidence to prosecute both of you," Sarah said firmly. "If you want to get us prosecuted, I welcome you, but I wonder how you can do it, especially when you're now stuck in this place," Yeon Min-jung said with a smirk and walked away.
"We need to get out of here fast," Sarah said. "But how?" Larry asked. "We have been refused bail, and we will stay in custody until our innocence is proved, but this will be a long shot. And besides, we both heard her. She will have another deal with Meredith Pong in 2 days' time, and during this time, we'll still be in custody."
"There's no other choice, we have to get out of here either way," Sarah said. She pleaded with Officer Edwin to release them, to which he said that although he wanted to help them, there was nothing he could do at this point in time. Just then, Officer Jamie Cheng, another police officer on duty implored him to release Larry and Sarah, which Officer Edwin maintained his stance. They had an argument, and in the process, Officer Edwin threw a bunch of keys onto the ground. Officer Jamie let out an imperceptible smile before picking up the keys and unlocked the cell door. "Go while you still can," she whispered. Larry and Sarah exited the holding area and walked stealthily along the corridor, where theireyes met Officer Barry's. However, he looked away as if he did not see them. Larry and Sarah continued walking. Suddenly, Sarah accidentally knocked into an umbrella holder, which attracted the attention of the police officers on duty. However, instead of trying to catch them, the police officers carried on their duties as if nothing had happened, allowing them to walk out of the police station. "Where should we go now?" Sarah asked. "We escaped from the lock-up, and both Yeon Min-jung and Meredith Pong will be after us." Just then, they were met by Officer Edwin, who motioned for them to get into the car. They got into the car, and Officer Edwin drove into a secluded spot, where he explained the turn of events.
It turned out that the police had been informed of Yeon Min-jung's conspiracy with Meredith to set Larry and Sarah up. The police decided to turn the tables and trap the criminals instead. They arrested Larry and Sarah on purpose to lower both Yeon Min-jung and Meredith's guards. Yeon Min-jung became overconfident when she saw Larry and Sarah in the lock-up and bragged about her criminal activities with Meredith, which was recorded on CCTV. With concrete evidence of their guilt, Yeon Min-jung and Meredith were arrested during the deal.
Larry and Sarah were cleared of the aggravated assault against Meredith, but they still had to return to the police station to collect their belongings, which they left behind when they were unofficially released. After leaving the police station, Larry proposed to Sarah, and she agreed. They got married soon after, relieved that everything was over.
