Barely a week had passed since Carly had been buried. Richard was still trying to come to terms with her demise. That night, he was asleep when Carly suddenly appeared beside him. "Richard, grandson, please go to my grave tomorrow first thing in the morning. You don't have time. Bring a dark jacket with you," she said. "Gran...gran..." Richard called out, but she disappeared in the dark. Then he woke up to an empty bedroom. Was it really a dream? He did not know. However, the dream seemed surreal to him, as if Carly was trying to tell him something. Trusting his gut feeling, Richard decided to visit Carly's grave the next day for a peace of mind.
Richard took the essentials and before dawn broke, went to Carly's grave. Suddenly, he heard faint shouts. He walked in the direction of the shouts and to his horror, he found a young woman in a shallow pit in the vicinity. "Sir, please help me," she pleaded. "She wanted me dead." Wasting no time, Richard extended out his hand and with all his strength, pulled her out of the pit. He then filled the pit with soil using a shovel he found. After that, using his dark-coloured jacket as cover, he brought her to a guard house a few miles away from the graveyard. The guard house had long since stood still. Richard managed to persuade a security guard on duty to provide shelter to them. There, the youngwoman told him her story. From her account, Richard found out that her name is Jessica, and it was her aunt Barbara who wanted to bury her alive in order to get her hands on the inheritance that her late parents had left her. She, like her late parents, had always been at odds with Barbara due to the latter's manipulative nature. The day before, Barbara asked to meet up with Jessica, saying that she wanted to make amends. Thinking that she was sincere in wanting to reconcile, Jessica had taken the bait. She followed Barbara into her car, and they reached an isolated area, where Barbara pushed her into the pit that she had earlier dug. Since the pit was located in the vicinity of the graveyard, which very few people frequented, Barbara believed that Jessica would eventually die. Jessica thanked Richard, saying that she really thought she would have died had he not come to her rescue. "By the way, how did you find me?" Jessica asked. Richard then told her about the dream about his grandmother which led him to save her. It dawned on him that Carly's appearance in his dream was no coincidence, enabling him to save Jessica from her unscrupulous aunt.
Richard called the police. With Jessica's statement, Barbara was apprehended in no time. After everything was over, Richard started a relationship with Jessica, which progressed into marriage the following year. He was certain that Carly would be watching over them from Heaven and giving them her blessings.
